IT took almost three years, but one of Australia's largest health insurers has finally reached agreement on a pay deal with employees.
The 270 employees of the Wollongong-based Government Employees Health Fund will enjoy a 12 per cent increase over three years to 2005.
The fund's chief executive, Dan Hook, said there had been several issues that were disputed, but that the length of time was due to the slow processes of the industrial commission.
``Once it goes to the industrial commission, it just goes on forever," he said.
He said the outcome was achieved with management and union cooperation.
Municipal Employees Union general secretary Brian Harris praised the outcome, which he described as ``sensible".
The health fund is Australia's eighth largest private health insurer, runs dental and optical clinics and operates CareLink, Australia's leading program for phone case management of patients with serious diseases.
